The Nook
The Nook 1978
In 1978, my parents, Ted and Helen Smith, traveled to England to find the birthplace of Ted’s father, Edwin Smith. They first looked for and found Edwin’s birth certificate which located the place of birth as “The Nook”, Keighley. So they headed north to Keighley in Yorkshire. At the town hall, they got directions to “The Nook”
- From Town Hall – onto North Street, go right at the light
- Take second exit off round-about – Oakworth Road, out 3 miles
- Turn right at Public House (Fleece or Golden Fleece) Follow Low Bank Lane – Wide Lane
- Sign to Newsholm – To Oakworth Cemetery where turn left
- About 1 mile onto Broad Head Lane – Broadhead House – narrow track
