After the War
On November 5th, 1945, Helen received a telegram: “Arrived Seattle. Will call from Devins in a few days. All my love, Ted.
A few weeks later, he arrived home, recovered from a bout of malaria, and went back to work at the A&P in Wakefield, RI. My oldest sister, Martha, was born in September 1946. Ted got transferred to the Hope Valley A&P, and my sister Joanne came along in 1948; I arrived in 1949. In 1951, they built the house on Fairview Avenue where we were brought up. The “American Dream” comes true.
