Ruth’s Diary

July 25, Tuesday Freiburg to Augsburg We left too early to do any shopping. After a great deal of fuss & running around we took the 9:00 A.M. train to Augsburg. At the last minute we discovered Tom & Harold were not with us & went on without them. There was nothing of special interest on the train ride except that according to schedule, we would have biked. We also met a fellow from Chicago who was very much worried about poli. conditions I was reporting to the Am. consul every stop. We arrived in Augsburg about 3:30. Helen, Dot & I got 1/2 litre of milk a piece for 13 pf & some pastry to hold us over until supper. Us girls & Frank had supper at a place that sounded like Herrinspauer but not the boys as they had an unfortunate experience with “blut wurst” for lunch – our supper – schsenfleisch, kartoff?”, salat – yes, supper. We talked w Sita after supper until time to go home & to bed. Had a nice hot shower!!!
