Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Bob

Mary Ann Smith emigrated to the United States with her family in 1882. She married Robert A. Fletcher on January 12, 1884. The 1900 census finds them living at 5 Handy Street in the Olneyville section of Providence, RI. This census lists their 4 daughters:

  • Alice (1884-1961)
  • Annie Elizabeth (1886-1916)
  • Minnie Fletcher (1888-1971)
  • Lillian M. Fletcher (1892-1968

Robert’s occupation is Loomfixer.

By the 1910 census, the family has moved to 47 Unit Street in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence RI. Bob’s occupation is Laborer in a worsted mill. Alice, now age 26,  lists her occupation as a weaver in a worsted mill, Annie, age 24,  as a finisher in an elastic shop, Minnie, age 21, as a finisher in an elastic shop, and Lillian, age 18,  as a spinner in a woolen mill.
